Janus 4.2 Update

This update only applies to Janus 4.0 or Janus 4.1 users who want to upgrade to Janus 4.2

If Janus 4.2 is already installed on your computer then this update is not required.

This update includes the following revisions:

  1. Final dispositor calculation fixed in Traditional, Election and Horary Chart.
  2. Cast Progressed Solar Return Chart calculation fixed.
  3. Help file added for Cast Progressed Solar Return Chart.
  4. Search button is now the default button in the Find Chart Utility.
  5. Election module runtime error 380 invalid property value fixed.
  6. Progression and direction hits extending beyond time frame in Transit List fixed.
  7. Casting a Return Chart when selecting date from Previous, Nearest or Next display options fixed.
  8. Print Planetary Cycles combined list symbols fixed.
  9. Whole Signs house cusps zero degrees of zodiac sign fixed.
  10. Natal Chart Report, Transit Report and Synastry Report fixed when using symbols and Galactic Centre is turned on.
  11. Progressions fixed in Declination Graph, Graphic Ephemeris and Uranian Graph when get another chart.
  12. Uranian Graph print in color and formula symbols fixed in printouts.
  13. Color fill fixed in Square Chart, ACG Map, Election, Horary, Page Designer and Wheel + Grid when screen properties set to font size 120 dpi.
  14. Transit Report now picks up Transiting Midpoints to Natal Planets.
  15. Traditional Chart. Height of Results box increased in printouts so all 4 temperaments are included. Aspect list overflow now prints in 2nd column. Date and Time of chart corrected in printouts.
  16. Julian Calendar charts in the chart file J4charts.chb have been recalculated.
  17. Repetition of the word 'chart' has been removed from chart description when casting a return chart.
  18. Quick Interpretation utility now remembers Mode and Area settings.
  19. Quick Interpretation utility now picks up 21st 22nd and 23rd degree of a sign for Sabian Symbols.
  20. Check Interpretation Format Integrity Utility. Selected filename now correctly shown in report.
  21. Importing Janus 3 charts using Julian Calendar dates fixed.
  22. Uranian Wheel. Event Name increased to 120 characters. You will need to re-select your Uranian Wheel settings after installing this update.
  23. New time zone added. VST Venezuela standard time +04:30:00
  24. Time change file updated for Venezuela.
  25. Bi-Wheel module. Print Zodiac Wheel fixed.
  26. Uranian Wheel module. Print custom wheel size now prints natal, solar arc and transits for all dial diameter settings. Planet table can turned On/Off.
  27. Julian calendar date calculations have been fixed for cast ingress chart, cast lunar phase chart, cast planet on angle chart, cast relocated chart, cast return chart, bi-wheel animation, declination graph, graphic ephemeris, uranian graph, calculate transits, single wheel, tri-wheel, quad wheel, traditional chart and generate ephemeris.
  28. Time zones for Argentina have been updated.
  29. Search button added to main screen tool bar.
  30. Font Name can now be selected in Generate Natal Chart Report, Generate Transit Report, Generate Synastry Report and ACG Map report options.

  53. Moon’s True or Mean Node selection has been added to parameter settings in the Traditional Chart module.
  54. Moon’s aspect sequence has been fixed in the Horary and Electional chart modules when Moon crosses zero Aries.
  55. Calculate Ayanamsa module now handles MDY date format correctly.
  56. Solar and Lunar Eclipse calculation improved to pick up small magnitude partial eclipses in declination, longitude and uranian graph modules.
  57. Get Chart window now remembers previously selected chart file.
  58. Copy Bi-Wheel to clipboard. Wheel reduced to correct size when planet and house cusp tables are turned off.
  59. Calculate Transits module now calculates Moon events independently of planet selection.
  60. Calculate Transits module. Invalid progressed to natal and directed to natal hits at end of transit list have been fixed.
  61. Time change files have been extended from 2010 to 2020.

  67. New Swiss Ephemeris calculation engine.
  68. Improved handling of the Moon’s true or mean node in cast a combined chart.
  69. Improved Moon VOC calculations in Election, Horary and Traditional chart modules.
  70. Improved Moon’s Aspects Sequence calculations in Election and Horary modules.
  71. Oriental/Occidental definitions and calculation methods are now consistent between the Election, Horary and Traditional chart modules.
  72. Moiety of Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North and South Moon’s Node, Ascendant, Midheaven and Part of Fortune can now be defined in Traditional Chart Set Parameters.
  73. Transiting Moon’s South Node is now correctly calculated when the Moon’s North Node is turned off in the Declination Graph, Transit Graph and Uranian Graph modules.
  74. If the chart files clients.chb, family.chb, friends.chb or mundane.chb are deleted they are no longer automatically re-created when Janus starts.

INSTRUCTIONS

A. Before Downloading the Update file

Please create a new folder on your computer.

To do this:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Highlight the Drive you wish to add the folder to, typically the C Drive
  3. Click File, then New and then Folder
  4. Name the folder. E.g. "Downloads"
  5. Close Windows Explorer

B. Download the Update file

Download: InstallJanus4P2Update.exe

Internet Explorer users select "Save this program to disk" option and select folder you wish to put the download file in.

Netscape users click "Save File" button and select folder you wish to put the download file in.

The file will now begin to download.

After the download has finished (usually takes 7 - 10 minutes on broadband) close your Internet browser (i.e. go off-line), and then close all other applications/programs that may be running.

C. Installing the Update

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Select the folder you have downloaded the file into.
  3. Double-click on the file InstallJanus4P2Update.exe to start the installation.
  4. Click Setup to continue, or Cancel to termination installation.
  5. The installation files will self-extract and the Janus 4.2 Update Setup will automatically start.
  6. The next message recommends that you close any running applications/programs, if you have not already done so.
  7. Click OK to continue or Exit Setup to terminate installation.
  8. Read the License Agreement and click Accept to continue or Disagree to terminate the installation.
  9. The next message gives you the option of changing the drive and path to where the update should be installed. The default directory is: c:\Program Files\Janus4. It is important that you install this Update to the same drive and path that Janus 4.0 or Janus 4.1 is installed in.
  10. Click the big button to continue.
  11. The updated files will be copied to your computer's hard drive.
  12. The next message will advise you that Setup was completed successfully.
  13. Click the OK button.
  14. Janus 4.2 is now ready to use.
  15. To start Janus 4.2, go Start, Programs and click Janus 4.
